For hair (daily + styling): Warm 1–3 drops between your palms and apply to damp or dry hair, focusing on mid-lengths to ends. Use as a finishing step to soften, break gel casts, enhance shine, and smooth frizz without weight.

To seal and protect: Apply a small amount after your styling products to lock in moisture and help maintain hydration throughout the day.

For scalp care: Massage a few drops directly into the scalp. Leave in or use as a pre-wash treatment.

As a treatment: Apply more generously from scalp to ends as an overnight or pre-wash hot oil treatment to deeply condition and restore softness.

Is it non-comedogenic? Can I use it on my face?

Many of our own friends, family and staff have used it on their faces and absolutely love it! Having said that, everyone’s face is different and we all react to natural oils differently, so it’s always best to do a small patch test (i.e. along your jaw line) to see how your skin reacts.

All of the oils in our formulation rank 1-3 on the comedogenic spectrum (which ranges from 0-5), so our formula would be considered low-to-moderate. Very few oils are a true “0.”

What does this mean? On most skin types, our oil will be found to be non-comedogenic and will not clog pores. In fact, the anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties in some of the oils in this formula may actually help with various skin conditions, including acne and rosacea! If you have sensitive skin or are concerned about breakouts, please check with a health care professional or dermatologist before use.

A lovely oil for more than just hair

"I'll be honest, I didn't really purchase the Elixir Oil for my hair. I have short, fine and not especially dense 2C-3A curls, and I'm always afraid of weighing my hair down with a lot of products. However, the blend of oils in this elixir sounded to me like it would be great for dry skin, so I thought I'd give it a try for that purpose. I'm really liking it so far! I think it's helping with some dry areas on my face, so I'm going to continue using it and see if there's more improvement. I can't speak to how it performs on hair, but it's awesome for my skin. It's unscented, it's not heavy, and it soaks right in with no greasiness whatsoever. And the price for the size of the bottle makes this a great value too. I've seen hair elixirs online in 50 ml bottles for almost twice the price of this one, so it's definitely a good deal. Another excellent product from LUS!"

The best oil for hair

"I have tried every lotion and potion for my thick fine hair that is wavy! Don’t like creams as they always flatten me out! I like brushing my hair so it is soft and fluffy! I take about 3-4 drops of this oil after washing with wet hands and spread in my hair! I comb it through and scrunch! No other product needed! After my hair air dries… I always like to brush it so it isn’t stringy looking! This old makes my hair feel like when I was young… soft and shiny! The waves are still there but soft and full. I love this oil… it’s the only one I’ve tried that doesn’t feel heavy and greasy! My partner uses it also on his African American curly hair… makes his hair so soft! Just two drops for him! I wish I had found this magic oil before spending so much on hundreds of products for wavy hair! One bottle will last a year… it’s a great bargain!
